Parking/Traffic Map

Dear Students and Families,

The next few weeks will be an exciting time for our district. Preparation for the construction of our new Performing Arts Center and Commons begins Monday, March 16. To keep everyone safe, we will be implementing a modified traffic, entrance-access, and parking plan beginning that day. Please review the attached map carefully, as it is the single reference for all routes, entrances, and parking expectations.

Construction Fencing and Restricted Area

Beginning March 16, construction fencing will be installed (see attached map):

  • just south of the Middle School entrance

  • diagonally to the softball field

  • along the south edge of the parking lot

  • to the building just east of the varsity gym entrance

No one will be permitted inside the fenced area at any time. This is a hard safety boundary. Students and families should not walk through the construction zone, enter through gaps, or approach equipment or materials. Please help us reinforce this with students.

Bus Pick-Up and Drop-Off

Buses will pick up and drop off on Washington Street on the south side of the road, between River Dr. and the main parking lot entrance (see map). This will be a no parking zone throughout the project. Please keep the area clear during arrival and dismissal so buses can load and unload safely and efficiently.

Parent Drop-Off and Where to Wait for Pick-up

Parent pick-up and drop-off will occur at the Middle School entrance. Please do not use Woodlawn Drive or the O.H. Schultz lot for parent pick-up or drop-off, as those areas are already full and do not allow safe traffic flow during busy times.

If you arrive early to wait for your child, the parking lot will likely be full. When the lot is full,, please use one of the following locations shown on the attached map to wait and to coordinate pick-up.

  • Washington Street west of River Drive

  • Washington Street the main parking lot exit and Woodlawn Drive

  • Woodlawn Drive north of Washington Street

  • River Drive north of Washington Street

  • Randolph Street

No Parking Zone on Washington Street

There will be no parking on the south side of Washington Street between River Drive and the main parking lot entrance. This space is needed to keep visibility clear and allow buses and traffic to move safely.

Parking Plan and Overflow Options

Parking will be limited due to the fenced construction footprint and equipment staging.

During the school day, parking in the main lot will be prioritized for staff, students, and scheduled school business.

For after-school events, if the main lot is full, please use the O.H. Schultz lot and street parking around the school. Students are not allowed to park in the O.H. Schultz lot.

To support students and families during this temporary change, 2-hour parking enforcement around the school will be suspended until further notice.

Construction Traffic on River Drive

Construction vehicles will be using River Dr. on the west side of the building for access and staging. Please be mindful of this traffic and keep River Dr. unobstructed at all times. Do not stop, park, or wait in a way that blocks construction vehicles or restricts their turning radius.

Timeline and Next Update

This traffic and parking plan will be in effect from March 16 through June 5. If we need to make any modifications or clarifications, we will do so via email, Friday folders, our website, and social media.

Additionally, starting June 8, there will be new guidelines as the project shifts into the next phase. Please watch for those updates via email, Friday folders, our website, and social media.

Thank you for your flexibility and cooperation. These adjustments are necessary to keep everyone safe and to keep the project on schedule.

Sincerely,

CErlandson Signature
