What is Advisement?

Students at Mishicot Middle School participate in weekly Advisement classes throughout their middle school career. Student are in groups of approximately 15 students from their same grade level. This group will work with a Mishicot Educator as their Adviser. Groups will meet two days per week for approximately 40 minutes. Every Monday, students will participate in an Academic and Career Planning or Social/Emotional Learning lesson. During these lessons, students will develop skills to ensure success in middle school, develop a website portfolio, and make connections with other students, the staff and the school; creating a positive environment to learn and grow.

  • Advisers work with assigned students from one particular grade level

  • Advisers follow these students throughout their middle school career

  • Advisers meet with their advisement group on Monday and Tuesday during a scheduled Advisement period in which all students at all grade levels in the middle school will be in at the same time

  • Advisers monitor the students' ACP websites

  • Advisers facilitate advisement activities based on lesson plans or portfolio requirements provided by the school counselor.

  • Advisers communicate any questions or concerns they have regarding any of their students to the proper person whether that is a parent/guardian, Principal, School Counselor, Special Education Teacher, Academic Adviser, etc.

  • Advisers are the go to person for their students and positively mentor them throughout their high school experience.
