The Manitowoc County UW-Agriculture Alumni Association Board is pleased to announce that several scholarships will be available for students from Manitowoc County enrolling in agriculture and life sciences majors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Platteville, River Falls, Green Bay or Stevens Point. Examples of eligible majors include traditional production agriculture majors like dairy science, soil science and agronomy. Other majors may also qualify including: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, forestry, horticulture, environmental science and more. Scholarships for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course are also available. Scholarships for a degree program will be up to $1,000 while scholarships for Farm and Industry Short Course will be up to $750. The UW-Ag Alumni Association scholarship is also available to students transferring from a non-agriculture program to an agriculture program at one of the aforementioned colleges.

The Manitowoc County Farm Progress Days Donald R. Peterson Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving individual who has been accepted to a 4-year degree program in an Ag-related field to one of the following universities: UW-River Falls, UW-Madison, UWPlatteville, or UW-Stevens Point. 

Each applicant must return the completed application form to the Manitowoc County UWExtension Office, c/o the "Manitowoc County Farm Progress Days Donald R. Peterson Scholarship," P.O. Box 935, Manitowoc WI 54221-0935, by April 1, 2020 and provide the Scholarship Committee with three letters of recommendation by that date.

Instructions for those writing letters of recommendation are included on an attached sheet. Selection will be based on the application form and the letters of recommendation. Payment of the $1,000 scholarship will be made to the university after you have enrolled and started classes in the fall.

The Chris Neuser Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to deserving individuals in the Mishicot FFA Chapter. Academics, supervised agricultural experiences, chapter involvement, leadership abilities, and overall body of work will be considered in choosing the recipients of these scholarships.

One scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500. Payment of the scholarships will be made to the individual after completion of the first semester of study.

acoustic fest jim krueger memorial music scholarship

This scholarship is open to any resident of Manitowoc County who plays a musical instrument or is a vocal musician, ages 16 to 22 years old as of July 18, 2020. The amount of the scholarship will be $1000.00. It must be used to further music education at the college of your choice, at a music camp or at music workshops. The scholarship recipient will be invited to perform at Acoustic Fest on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Washington Park, Manitowoc Wisconsin if available. This is NOT mandatory but is highly recommended. 

Application Procedure Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2020. Please include the following: 1. Completed application form 

2. A personal statement including: * the instrument(s) you play (it can be voice) * why music is important to you * your goal as a musician and / or vocalist * how you would use this scholarship (be specific: Name of university, college, music camp or workshop) 

3. A 3-5 minute performance demo CD, DVD. This does not have to be studio quality! (PLEASE make sure the DVD’s work properly. Try them in several devices. We’ve had problems with some in the past.)

Scholarship awards are available to qualifying Mishicot FFA members who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution, (technical school or college, either public or private, or the Farm and Industry Short Course). The FFA Alumni Association may provide up to 6 $500.

You must have been an active FFA member for at least 2 years, with one being your senior year, and also be a member in good standing.

All majors will be accepted, but preference may be given to those pursuing an agricultural career. All decisions by the scholarship committee are final!

The Rice Engineering Scholarship provides financial assistance to one area high school senior per year who plans to enter the civil engineering field. The scholarship is a $3,000 cash award to be dispersed in $1,000 increments in the first three years of attendance at a college or university. The applicant must be accepted for enrollment to receive the award. 

Who can apply for the REI Scholarship? 

• Graduating seniors from any high school in Brown, Door, Kewaunee or Manitowoc Counties.

This scholarship is worth a minimum of $1,000. It can be renewed based on available funds and maintaining a 3.0 average. There will be a minimum of two scholarships awarded each year. Selection for this scholarship is primarily based on financial need with top priority given to students who do not receive other scholarships.

Eligibility Standards:

  • Must be a graduate of Mishicot High School
  • Must have been enrolled as a student at MHS for at least their entire junior and senior years.
  • Must have attained a minimal grade point average of 2.75 throughout high school or for the junior and senior years.
  • Must be accepted for enrollment at a non private Wisconsin University or Technical College for the forthcoming school year. Exceptions could be made for agriculture based studies.
  • Must maintain full time collegiate status by taking at least 12 credits per semester.
  • The student will receive $500 of the scholarship at the beginning of the student's first semester or enrollment and another $500 prior to the second semester of their first year of college.

The Manitowoc County Bowling Association Scholarship Committee was been awarding scholarships to students pursuing an advanced education since 1992. With the merger of the women and youth into the Manitowoc County Bowling Association this bowling season, the Manitowoc County Bowling Hall of Fame has taken over the scholarship program. A Manitowoc County Bowling Hall of Fame scholarship is open to any High School Senior who attends school in or whose primary residence is in Manitowoc County. Students must plan on being actively enrolled for the 2020-2021 academic year at an accredited junior or senior college or other training school. Applicants must have an amateur standing and must be a member of a MCBA sanctioned league or be a dependent or grandchild of a sanctioned member.  Up to two scholarships for $500.00 will be awarded to the two selected winners. Selection criteria will be based on contributions to the sport of bowling and their community, scholastic record, and career goals. Scholarship recipients and parents are invited to the Annual Hall of Fame Banquet to receive their scholarship.
