What extracurricular activities have you been involved with during high school?Throughout high school, I have been involved in Future Business Leaders of America, FFA, Power of Positive Students Mentoring Program, Forensics, Student Government, National Honor Society, musical pit band, Two Rivers Municipal Band, Badger Girls State Delegate, Manitowoc County Junior Leadership Program, Girl Scouts, volleyball, basketball, and track and field.

What is one academic accomplishment about which you feel particularly good? I am proud of my ability to maintain my GPA throughout high school, while balancing extracurricular activities as well as volunteer commitments.

Which class or extracurricular activity influenced your decision regarding the career you plan to pursue? I was inspired by my biotechnology and biology classes to explore careers in the biology field.

What advice do you have for those just starting their high school career? I encourage those students who are just beginning high school to take advantage of the many opportunities offered. Involvement in advanced courses, school organizations, sports, and volunteering in the community gives you the chance to explore different interests and gain life skills such as organization, prioritization and teamwork.

What are your plans after high school? I will attend a four-year college and major in biology.

What would you like to be doing 10 years from now? I hope, in 10 years, I will be working at a job that I enjoy in the biology or environmental science field.

Teacher recommendation: "Sydney is a leader within the multiple academic and athletic organizations in which she participates. She is highly motivated and capable of balancing school, extracurricular and home responsibilities. What is impressive of her student leadership is her community service involvement. At our present date, Sydney has logged over 400 hours of service to her school and greater Mishicot community. Sydney’s capability to effectively complete the expectations and tasks assigned to her or her team and to serve as a leader in these and other organizations is exceptional.” — Justin Gerlach, Spanish, Biology and Agriscience teacher
